You can make a difference, just by shopping?  As consumers, we have the power to shape our community. 

For every $100 spent in independently owned stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures.  In a national chain, only $43 stays here.  Spend it online and nothing comes home.

Every time we open our wallets to a business, we are saying, “I like what you do! Keep doing it!” When we shop local, we are saying YES to a strong, vibrant local economy that translates into a unique and interesting town.

1. More jobs: When businesses grow, more jobs open up. The new employees and their families then add their support and spend money in the community. 

2. Our shops help people: It is known that local businesses are more likely to support local charities, schools and events. Supporting local shops supports the community. 

3. Great products, great prices: Our businesses offer a wide range of products and services at affordable prices. Plus, think about this. The more you shop at a place, the more it grows, which means more products and even lower prices. 

4. Save money: Out of town shops have done a good job of convincing us that all local businesses = expensive. But that’s not true. The cost of wasted time plus transporting large products can add up, and not to mention the gas prices!
